There’s nothing better than leaping headfirst into a warm pool on a cold winter’s day.
Even if your own pool is hibernating over winter, we advocate swimming all year around – its good to get the blood pumping and can help the kids burn off some energy.
Kids cooped up inside with cabin fever have driven many parents up the wall – so here are our favourite spots for winter swims around Auckland, so if you haven’t tried out these places give them a go.
1. Waiwera Thermal Resort – about a 40-minute drive north of Auckland, these cosy pools even show outdoor movies (including good classics for the family)
2. Tepid baths in downtown Auckland
3. Your local pool is worth checking out – we head to Glen Innes Pool and Leisure centre and it’s free entry for kids aged under 6
4. Don’t have a spa either? There’s no time like winter to befriend your neighbours who have a warm spa humming away in their backyard. Time to do some kind hearted baking perhaps?
